Wedding Portraits
What is a portrait? It is a photograph that captures what a person or group of people looks like. To take it a step further, the picture captures the personality of the subject. There are many ways and styles to capture a wedding day. We would describe our overall capture style as creative photojournalism and our portraits, a mix of organic portraiture and traditional.
Our goal of creating portraits is to capture the personalities of each couple and accomplish getting to know them – no short cuts here. We do so through several opportunities for face-to-face time. The pre-booking meeting, the engagement session, and our pre-wedding consultation are some examples of such opportunities. We want our clients to feel comfortable and confident in being themselves during portraits. By getting to know them, we can creatively allow for their personalities to be the main guiding factor for how we pose them, the lighting we use, and how we facilitate their interactions.
We prefer their interactions to be as organic as possible. For some couples, this candid, natural approach comes as easy as breathing; for others, they prefer guidance. Most of our clients land somewhere in between. What makes our approach distinctive is the skill to adjust to each couple in their uniqueness, to get portraits that are authentic to who they are, and show how they feel about each other.
A few years ago, a fellow photographer mentioned an approach that truly resonated with us. The idea was to treat the moments of the wedding day with the care we do for portraits and to capture portraits with the open and organic feel of moments. The results are moments captured beautifully and portraits that look and feel natural. If you think our approach is a fit for you and how you’d like your wedding captured, we’d love to get to know you and the opportunity to tell your story.
