Engagement Photos
Engagement Photography
An engagement photography session is included in each of our wedding photography collections. We view it as an essential part of our process of capturing authentic photos on your wedding day. The session is a valuable ingredient in getting to know each couple before their wedding day. It allows us to gain an understanding at a level that would be challenging to achieve through conversations alone.
Benefits of Engagement Photography
While the engagement photography session is not a requirement for photographing your wedding, we highly recommend taking advantage of it, if at all possible. It is beneficial in several ways for you and your photographer. It allows us to get to know you as individuals, as a couple, how you interact with each other, and your comfort level with being photographed. It also allows you to establish a comfort level in having your photograph taken by us. That said, the most important reason it’s beneficial is that it will enable us to capture photos on your wedding day that reflect your personalities and fit with who you are as a couple. Think of it as a rehearsal for your wedding day portraits.
Engagement Photography Locations and Planning
While we are happy to help choose the engagement session location(s), we encourage each couple to consider places that are meaningful to them and their relationship. Someplace where they will feel comfortable being themselves and interacting with each other. Whether it be a park, a nature preserve, cityscapes, urban setting, a farm, a lake to go fishing, or your back yard — it must be a fit for you.
Your engagement photography session is scheduled any time before your wedding day. Most couples decide on a date based on their planned use for the photos and the season/weather they prefer. The session is typically one to two hours in length, during which you may have as many outfit changes you like. Most couples incorporate two outfits — one casual and the other dressy.
