Over the years, it’s been a joy to shoot in our adopted hometown of historic Greenville, Illinois – Dan and Jen’s wedding was no exception. It was the second wedding in their family we’ve photographed this year as we captured cousin, Callie and Bubba’s earlier this past spring. Both Jen and Dan got ready for the day at the home where Dan grew up. After watching Mizzou get smoked by Georgia at football, the guys got ready on the top floor of the house, while Jen and her girls got a bite to eat and dressed in the spacious apartment above the garage. Both moms, Dalonna and Anne, helped them with the details in getting dressed for the day.
Jen and her dad, Mike, shared an emotional first look before heading down the road to the reception location to see Dan for their first look. The setting was beautiful – string lights adorned most of the surrounding mature trees in the quiet wooded area. I captured their first look and pre-ceremony portraits in that decorated area of the property, taking full advantage of the foreground and background bokeh the string lights provided. I think it’s pretty cool that their positioning and hands are identical for their first look as it was for their first kiss as husband and wife at the church. 😊
Their wedding ceremony was performed by Jen’s grandfather at First Church of Christ, located just outside of Greenville, in Mulberry Grove, Illinois (Jen’s hometown). Their reception was a blast with their friends from their high school days leading the way on the dance floor. I didn’t realize that Jen was a cheerleader back in the day until I looked over and saw her balanced atop the arms and shoulders of her friends, high above the dance floor. From their sparkler first dance, to the fully packed dance floor, DJ Brad Rogers had the reception on full-fun mode the entire time! Presented below are some of our favorite moments and portraits from the intimate, emotional, and fun wedding day. Thanks Jen and Dan for allowing me to come along and capture your big day!
