Justin and Alex had a winter wedding in its truest form. We had the cold, we had the wind, we had the snow… but you know what we also had – a ton of fun, love, and excitement. Grooms don’t typically request much from us regarding our coverage of the day, and Justin was no different. However, the one thing Justin requested was getting a photo outside in the snow. We lasted outside around 4-5 minutes, but those 4-5 minutes were a blast. And while our fingers and toes thawed, we were happy that we were able to get those shots for them. Alex was one of the most easy-going brides you can imagine. We never heard her ask anyone what time it was, we saw her take the time to help her bridesmaids look their best, and we witnessed her take the time to engage everyone at their reception to make them feel welcomed. It was a pleasure getting to know these two. One my favorite things I heard said during their wedding was said during Justin’s brother and best man, Aaron’s speech. He said, “Alex… you know how I know Justin likes you, because you got married today.” That’s to say Justin truly doesn’t do anything he not really sure about. Justin, a history and physical education teacher, and Alex, a physical therapist complement each other so well in so many important ways.

After Tease Salon and Stylin’ On Main finished their hair and makeup, we did a first look with Alex and her dad, Tom, followed by another with Justin. After creating some portraits at the house, we headed over to St. Francis Catholic Church for the ceremony. After the ceremony, we completed their family portraits and a few wedding party photos at the church. We stopped in at The Vintage Hall, located in Aviston, Illinois for a few photo/video creatives and group photos. It had been snowing fairly consistently throughout the day, so we had some good coverage on the ground. We stopped by a park and shot portraits for a few minutes before heading over to the Aviston American Legion for their reception. The Hair Syndicate did a great job guiding the evening and the cake pops were some of the just fantastic!!! We are thankful we had the opportunity to get to know these two, to see the Venhaus and Albers family again, and to meet the Robben family. We captured Aaron and bridesmaid, Lacey’s wedding two years ago. We especially would like to thank the rest of their awesome wedding party: Nathan, Tony, Taylor, Aaron, Miranda, Chris, Katie, Clayton, Jermey, Courtney, Andrew, Rachel, Nolan, and Melanie for being such troopers throughout the day.
